Clean fossil fuels for clean environment

Clean fossil fuel means the clean, integrated production of fossil fuels, which envisages the changes in the method of production of coal, gas and oil. With radical shifts in the pattern of productions, this will pragmatically enhance the generation of problematic hydrocarbons without any release of greenhouse gases or any hazardous gas.  There is no doubt that this energy is a constant source of energy that will continuously meet the needs of our world power requirements. Hence, incorporating clean fossil fuel technologies will limit the emissions of harmful gases and benefit the environment altogether.

If steadily we want to put an end at the emissions of harmful gases and their side effects on our environment, we are required to embrace some new technologies such as clean-coal technologies to meet the target of limiting emissions of carbon dioxide. Another technology focuses on storing carbon dioxide to some permanent storage underground by capturing the carbon dioxide released through combustion systems of fossil fuels. In this manner, the goal towards achieving clean fossil fuels can be accomplished.

These new technologies have now become the priorities amongst western countries whereas, at the other side, it will produce anger amongst many environmentalists who wants to abandon fossil fuel worldwide. Another technique, which focuses on limiting the emissions of carbon dioxide, is to pass emissions of carbon dioxide through chemical scrubbers, which consists of amine that immediately react and trap the carbon dioxide. This technology has been applied to boost the hydrogen proportion in natural gas via removing carbon dioxide from natural gas.

For burying the gas underground, the gas needs, to be compressed and then injected with pressure through the pipeline into redundant coal seams, gas wells, old oil or porous rocks that are filled with salt water. Many companies have already applied this technique pragmatically where each year they strips tones of carbon dioxide from natural gas and buries it in saline water permanently.

The major benefit of burring carbon dioxide underground moves towards oil companies apart from our environment. Oil companies benefitted through injecting carbon dioxide into oil wells that are capable to flush out any remaining oil. Oil is capable of dissolving carbon dioxide thereby its viscosity falls and volume increases, which forces it to come out under pressure. This technology has shown positive results, which benefits oil companies tremendously every year. In this manner, any remaining oil in oil wells can be flushed out, and companies save cost alongside environment.

This aforementioned technology is similarly in use by a coal industry in Poland which is expecting the same results by injecting carbon dioxide into coal seams to recover methane gas as a fuel. Most of these burial grounds are in reliable geological formations, and European countries have their vast burial space beneath North Sea. According to global estimates, around 11000 tons of carbon oxide can be buried underground safely worldwide. This can give some additional time to the world to abandon the dependency on fossil fuels.

In forthcoming future, we can expect a radical change in technologies that can even remove carbon from fossil fuels, thereby providing clean fossil fuels for clean energy in our environment.
