Applied Utility Systems, Inc. (AUS) was formed in 1985 with the single focus of offering its clients cost-effective engineered solutions for the clean and efficient utilization of fossil fuels.

AUS’ technical and commercial success includes the retrofit of over 7000 MW of electric power generation with low NO_x burners (LNBs) and over 3,700 MW of electric power generation with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems. These projects achieved NO_x emission levels that are unmatched by any competing technology. In addition to electric utility boilers, AUS has supplied LNBs for petrochemical fired heaters and industrial steam boilers.

AUS’ technological offering is broad-based and includes combustion and post-combustion based NO_x control technologies. Among the NO_x control technologies offered are the following:

• LNBs
  
• Flue Gas Recirculation and other combustion modifications
  
• Ammonia (NH₃) Injection (Thermal deNO_x) or Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction Systems
  
• SCR
